That said there is one key difference that makes this a worthy upgrade to the previous model – waterproofing. $99.95 at JBL The JBL Flip 4 offers significant improvements over the Flip 3, including better sound and battery life, as well as full waterproofing. It’s also loud enough to keep the music playing in a small outdoor party, but if you want things to get really turned up, there’s its JBL Connect plus feature that allows you to connect and sync music with up to 100 other JBL speakers that have the Connect + as well. A design that you can comfortably take anywhere is only of use if the speaker offers audio output that you’re actually going to want to listen to. The new Flip 4 has far more precise bass and cleaner treble than the predecessor of the Flip 3. For those still inclined to buy a speaker from the Flip product line, the updated JBL Flip 5 is definitely worth considering. Solid audio performance with rich bass and well-defined highs. But besides that the rest of the speaker hasn’t changed much. While you might think that this will improve battery life drastically, it actually remains the same at about 12 hours of constant playback which should be fine for most people anyway. So if you have another speaker and were hoping to connect the Flip 4 to it you’re out of luck. The good news is that the JBL Flip 4 does have Bluetooth 4.2, the bad news is that it doesn’t have any support for high-quality codecs.
